Lucy Christian
About the Artist: Lucy Christian is an artist whose work explores identity, memory, and lived experience following traumatic brain injury. Using unconventional materials such as hospital gowns, she creates deeply personal, text-based works that blur the line between writing and visual art. Her practice emphasizes connection, collaboration, and raising awareness through shared narratives.

Handwritten Hospital Gowns, 2024
Medium: Hospital Gowns with Ink
Artist Statement:
“On hospital gowns, I write down my thoughts just as I did when I was in the hospital following my traumatic brain injury when I had no access to paper. The handwritten marks move between legibility and abstraction, forming patterns that reflect memory, emotion, and experience. Through this process, I have been able to rediscover my identity and use art as a way to connect with others who have experienced brain injury.”
