Dina Leotsakas

About the Artist:

Dina Leotsakas is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores emotion, resilience, and perspective through vibrant color and layered composition. Working primarily with acrylic paint and mixed media, Dina often incorporates texture and dimensional elements to create movement and visual depth in her pieces.

Living with dysautonomia, a chronic nervous system and autoimmune disorder that affects the autonomic nervous system, Dina experiences symptoms such as neurocardiogenic syncope (fainting), mobility challenges, and occasional vision loss. These experiences have deeply influenced her creative process and perspective on the world.

Art has been an outlet for Dina since childhood. Through her work, she captures moments, memories, and emotions through expressive color and flowing forms. Her pieces often reflect both the beauty and complexity of life, inviting viewers to experience the world through her unique lens.

New York State of Mind

Medium: Acrylic Paint

Artist Statement:

“My piece “New York State of Mind” captures the vibrancy and beauty of the New York skyline at sunset, centered around the Statue of Liberty. The warm, glowing colors of the sky and water reflect a sense of nostalgia and memory. This piece connects me back to my childhood, reminding me of the wonder and excitement I felt looking out over the city. Through bold color and movement, I hope to capture not just the image of New York, but the feeling it evokes.

My work is inspired by my personal experiences and my perspective of the world. I aim to create pieces that allow viewers to pause, reflect, and experience a moment through my eyes. Through color, texture, and storytelling, I hope my art evokes emotion and invites others to find beauty, even in imperfection."

Crash

Medium: Mixed Media

Artist Statement:

“My piece “Crash” explores the beauty within imperfection. Through fragmented imagery, collage elements, and dimensional details, the artwork reflects the complexity of life’s disruptions and the unexpected beauty that can emerge from chaos. The layered textures and 3D elements emphasize the idea that even broken or scattered pieces can come together to form something meaningful."
