Apple of My Eye, 2026

Medium: Colored Pencil on Paper

Artist Statement:

“After sustaining a severe traumatic brain injury in my early 20s, my relationship with art changed, and I stepped away from it for many years. Returning to drawing with colored pencils has become a way for me to reconnect with creativity and explore my recovery. Inspired by chiaroscuro and the emotional depth of Baroque art, my work reflects the contrast between light and darkness that exists within the experience of brain injury.”

Keyhole Horror Vision, 2025

Medium: Colored Pencil on Paper

Artist Statement:

“I used to do a lot of art before my injury but have had a hard time getting back into it. This piece is inspired by a vision I had in a meditation. I’ve been learning about Jungian psychology and the shadow self and I think this is a glimpse of that for me."
